April 25, 2007 - Members of the Tunkhannock Area High
School Jazz Band, under the direction of Mr. Ryan
Zellner, recently traveled to Harrisburg to entertain
area legislators and visitors to the state capitol. The
students performed as part of the 12th Annual Arts in
Education Month celebration organized by the
Pennsylvania Art Education Association. Above, Senator

April 25, 2007 Students from Western Wayne and Wayne
Highlands school districts recently traveled to Harrisburg
to discuss the Clean Indoor Air Act, which is currently
being considered by the General Assembly. Senator Lisa
Baker, Representative Sandy Major, and Representative Mike
Peifer listened while students shared their views on making
Pennsylvania work places and public spaces smoke-free. The
students are members of Wayne County Drug and Alcohol
Commission's Anti-Tobacco Youth Coalition, led by Michelle Erbach, Tobacco Program Manager. Above, the group poses for

at the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry
legislative breakfast. More than 400 community leaders
attended the event to learn what state legislators are doing
to assist business owners and improve economic growth in the

Leader's Jefferson Awards ceremony. The Jefferson Awards
honor individuals for their contributions through community

April 13, 2007 Dallas Fire and Ambulance and State Sen.
Lisa Baker honored two members for their 50 years of active
service with the fire and ambulance department. Robert
Richardson and Robert Besecker were honored at the
organizations annual installation of officers dinner. Both
men were presented with a Pennsylvania Senate proclamation
by Baker for their accomplishments and continual
contribution to the community. |

Board President, in honor of the library's 10th anniversary. Senator
Baker was the guest speaker at the groups annual meeting.

April 4, 2007 - Senator
Baker hosted the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee. The committee
heard testimony from local farmers in Wayne, Wyoming and Susquehanna counties
regarding dairy, crops, livestock and other issues. Above, she tours Rickard's
