March 24, 2010 – The Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency
Preparedness Committee and the Senate Communications and Technology Committee
held a joint public hearing on the 911 Emergency Response System. Pictured in

March 23, 2010 - Pennsylvania Farm Bureau members from
throughout the 20th District met with Senator Baker to discuss agriculture
issues during their State Legislative Conference in Harrisburg.

March 22, 2010 - National Honor Society members from Western
Wayne High School, Wayne County, join Senator Baker in the Senate Chamber during
a visit to the state Capitol.

March 19, 2010 – Angela Wagner interviewed Senator Baker as part
of her public administration class. Angela is a student at King's College
majoring in political science.

March 16, 2010 – The Pennsylvania Association of Conservation
Districts (PACD) held an event at the state Capitol today focusing on
legislative issues important to conservation districts across the Commonwealth.
Senator Baker, joined representatives Sandra Major and Karen Boback, to speak
with Conservation District representatives within their legislative districts.

March 15, 2010 - Senator Baker presented Tom Foley, President
and CEO of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross, with
a citation designating March 2010 as "American Red Cross Month" in Pennsylvania.
Senator Baker's grandfather – Ervin Calhoun – was a soldier in the
Spanish-American War of 1898 and was part of the 1st Regiment of the
Pennsylvania Voluntary Infantry. While encamped in Chickamauga, Georgia, some
members of the regiment contracted malaria. In partnership with the American Red
Cross, a train picked up the sickened soldiers and transferred them to the City
of Philadelphia to receive medical attention. The Red Cross flag pictured in the
photo was on the train when this transfer occurred. It currently hangs in
Senator Baker's Harrisburg office.

March 15, 2010 - Senator Baker met with Susquehanna County
resident Nicole Tarbox, a student at Lock Haven University majoring in
psychology. She is interning with the Board of Probation and Parole through The
Harrisburg Internship Semester (THIS) program offered by the State System of
Higher Education.

March 13, 2010 - Cole Chamberlin, Boy Scout Troop 76, Milford,
recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout. His community service project was the
construction of three crosses for the front lawn of the Holy Trinity Lutheran

March 9, 2010 - Emily Marshall (left to right), Shelby McElhinny
8th graders at St. Michael School in Greenville, PA, are serving as guest pages
today for Senator Bob Robbins, Vice Chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs and
Emergency Preparedness Committee. They were recognized during the committee
meeting by Senator Baker.

March 9, 2010 - Members of the Senate Veterans Affairs and
Emergency Preparedness Committee today voted out of committee Senate Resolution
226 which would officially declare the Senate's support of the Military

March 7, 2010 - Senator Baker presents Ken Hoover with a Senate
certificate in honor of his retirement from the Lake-Lehman School District. Ken
proudly served the district for more than 14 years. His family and friends
marked the occasion with a party at Grotto Pizza, Harvey's Lake. |

March 7, 2010 - Raymond John Walton, Boy Scout Troop 106,
Mountain Top, recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout. His community service
project was the installation of a commercial swing bench and U.S. flag pole
flower box at Ice Lakes Park, Rice Township. Raymond also designed a parking lot

March 4, 2010 - Senator Baker joins Senator Costa and members of
the Senior Center Association during their annual conference at the Nittany Lion
Inn in State College.

3, 2010 - As part of the annual state budget proceedings, the
Senate Appropriations
Committee held a budget hearing with state-related
universities. Members, including Senator Baker, questioned the effects of
reduced funding levels with representatives from Pennsylvania's state-related
universities.

March 2, 2010 – Senator Baker, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee,
participates in the Department of Corrections/Probation and Parole Budget
Hearing. During the hearing, Senator Baker stated that Pennsylvania has a large
number of veterans in its prisons. She wanted assurances that they are
receiving appropriate services – either from state or local entities.

March 2, 2010 - Dallas High School students are State Champions
after competing in the LifeSmarts competition in Harrisburg. Senator Baker had
the honor of congratulating these students and wishing them luck as they prepare
to compete in the National LifeSmarts Championship in Miami Beach, FL from April
