Highmark/Independence Blue Cross Merger

Senator Lisa Baker would like to advise residents of the 20th District that the public comment period on the proposed merger of the for-profit subsidiaries of Highmark, Inc. and Independence Blue Cross is now open. Senator Don White, chair of the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee, has encouraged individuals to submit written statements to the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance.

The comment period will continue through at least July 11, 2007. Written statements must include name, address and telephone number of the person making the statement, and should be sent to:
