Senators to Outline Legislation That Will Provide Tax Credits to Volunteer Firefighters, EMS Workers

A group of state senators will join members of the volunteer fire and emergency response community to outline a bipartisan legislative package that would provide tax credits to Pennsylvania's volunteer firefighters and emergency first responders and their employers. The goal of the legislation, which the Senate will take up Monday, is to help volunteer fire companies and emergency medical services companies recruit and retain members.

The news conference will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 9, in the State Capitol's East Wing Media Center

Among those scheduled to attend are Senator Lisa Baker (R-Luzerne), Chair of the Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, Senator Mike Waugh (R-York), Co-Chair of the Legislative Fire and Emergency Services Caucus, Senate Majority Whip Jane Orie (R-Allegheny), Senator Andrew Dinniman (D-Chester), and Senator Michael O'Pake (D-Berks).  Also on hand will be representatives from the Pennsylvania Fire and Emergency Services Institute, the PA Emergency Health Services Council, the Ambulance Association of Pennsylvania and the PA Fire Association.
