Baker Taps Wayne County Native to Serve as Legislative Director

Honesdale native Maggie Rogers Giannelli will serve as legislative director for Senator Lisa Baker.   She is the daughter of Doris and the late Bill Rogers, a long-time Honesdale businessman, Borough Councilman, and civic leader.

A 1976 graduate of Honesdale High School, Giannelli joined the Senate after receiving her degree in government administration from Shippensburg University.   She will be responsible for monitoring and developing legislation and assisting constituents, schools, hospitals, and businesses with state and local issues.

"Maggie is a perfect fit. She knows the community and understands the issues and challenges we face," Baker said.  "Her extensive experience in budget analysis and legislative research will serve the residents of the 20th District well."

Giannelli has worked in government for more than twenty-five years and is looking forward to serving people from her hometown.  "My family still lives in Wayne County and my roots are in northeastern Pennsylvania," she said.  "I am honored to join a team that is dedicated to public service."

Giannelli resides in East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County, with her husband John, and their three sons.

Senator Baker was sworn-in to serve her first term on January 2, 2007, and represents the 20th Senatorial District, which encompasses parts of Luzerne, Monroe and Susquehanna counties and all of Pike, Wayne and Wyoming counties.

She serves as chair of the Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee.  She is a member of the Communications and Technology, Community, Economic and Recreational Development, Education, and Public Health and Welfare committees, and the Community College and Sportsmen caucuses.
