Senator Lisa Baker (R-20) is working to close a loophole preventing military spouses from collecting unemployment.  Currently, if an active duty member of the Armed Forces is transferred, and if, as a result, his or her spouse is forced to resign their employment, it is possible, under Pennsylvania law, that the resignation would be considered voluntary and they may not qualify for benefits.

The Pennsylvania Senate has approved House Bill 930, by a vote of 42 to 7. Under the proposal, Pennsylvania would become the 11th state for law enforcement to collect and submit DNA samples of missing persons or unidentified remains through a secure database, to the Pennsylvania State Police, and then to be shared with the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NAMUS).
