Veterans Remembered at Memorial Day Services

Across the 20th District, people gathered to salute all the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives in service to our country. We remember with the deepest gratitude and respect those who have died over the centuries to give us a lifetime pass to the American way of life.

Tunkhannock Police Officer Memorial Dedication

I was honored to join the Wyoming County District Attorney’s Office, Detective Dave Ide and others in dedicating the Tunkhannock Police Officers Memorial – a project 15 years in the making. Angie Miller, wife of Trooper Joshua Miller who was shot in 2009 while responding to a child abduction, was also in attendance.  She said her family stays in touch with that child to this day.

We will never forget those officers who have given the ultimate sacrifice in protecting the safety and security of our communities. We recognize their service and extend our thanks and appreciation to the surviving members of their families.

Nanticoke Middle School YES! Day Encourages Economic Success

Junior Achievement of Northeastern Pennsylvania recently visited the Nanticoke Middle School to encourage students to begin thinking about their future economic success. YES! Day is a program designed to help students gain an understanding of the significance their career decisions will play in their lives. Students learn about various career options and are exposed to interview preparation, resume building and other essential skills.

New Playground Opened at Wallenpaupack Area North Primary School

Students at Wallenpaupack Area North Primary School are enjoying a modern playground thanks in part to a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources  Greenway Trails and Recreation Program. The area is open to the public when school is not in session.

Make Memories at a PA Fair

Pennsylvania has more than 100 agriculture fairs and events scheduled this summer and fall.

At a festival, you can enjoy the commonwealth’s vibrant heritage and support our local communities. Between the food, animals and exhibits, there’s something for everyone.

The 2024 Pennsylvania Fair Guide maps out the fairs across the state, broken down by region. Find dates and locations to plan your day at the fair. The guide also highlights 15 fairs that offer harness racing.

Planning Outdoor Adventures

As we celebrate Great Outdoors Month in June, it’s the perfect time to engage in recreational opportunities that allow us to enjoy the lakes, mountains, waterfalls, beaches and forests that Pennsylvania offers. Get a jumpstart planning your trip with information about lodging, dining, things to do, and, of course, outdoor adventures.

Great Outdoors Month first started as Great Outdoors Week in 1998.
